#Cardiff @ QuakeNet

This page provides rules and information about the #Cardiff channel at QuakeNet IRC Network.

Where is it?

QuakeNet IRC Network, you can connect to the channel with an IRC client such as mIRC, or using our web IRC java applet.

For those of you with IRC clients installed that support the irc:// protocol, click here to immediately connect and join the channel. I know that mIRC and ChatZilla support this.

What is the channel about?

Firstly, you should know that [CG1]Adam actually owns the channel.

The channel is simply a gathering of people that are citizens, fans, or related in some other way to Cardiff, the capital city of Wales (United Kingdom), on the QuakeNet IRC Network, which is by far the largest IRC network in existance.

What are the rules?

#Cardiff works on a 3-strike basis, which means, if you break a rule 3 times, you are banned, for however long the operator that bans you decides.

  1. Do not argue with operators: If an operator tells you to do/don't do something, then obey. There will be a reason for it.
  2. Away messages ARE allowed: We don't mind them, they aren't annoying. Bouncer offline/online messages are also acceptable. Spamming these away messages isn't allowed though.
  3. The same goes for game server messages: These are handy, if someone wants to tag along with you playing CS:S or whatever.
  4. [CG1]GoldBot is a service: This bot will filter out, and remove users that spam according to it's rules. It is their for a purpose. If you get kicked by it, then don't whine. Just rejoin.

That's it for now, I may think of more later. If you disagree with these rules, you are welcome to leave. Simply type /part #Cardiff and your out, or break a rule 3 times to get banned.

How do I get ops here?

I thought this would grab your attention. Now that I have, there are 3 ways of granting operator access here:

  1. Become a channel helper: Someone who helps maintain the channel, and keeps out trouble makers, according to our rules.
  2. Become a trusted cardiff user: If you can prove you really do live in cardiff, then if we like you, we will op you.
  3. Become a useful user: If you have some mega-uber-super purpose to the channel, then we may op you. This is unlikely.

Demanding for operator access isn't the way of getting it. It's a way of receiving a ban though. Hostnames that appear to belong to Cardiff, will be allowed voice. If you don't live in cardiff, or have no special purpose to the channel, I'm afriad your going to be a bog standard user.
