Minigolf @ Jippii

This page breifly explains how to play Minigolf at Jippii Mobile Entertainment. Firstly, you will need Sun Microsystems Java Plugin for your web browser, or you can't play.

To play minigolf on your own, click here.
To join the minigolf multiplayer lobby, click here.

Using the Multiplayer Room

Firstly, invite your second player to the multiplayer link above, unless you want to play with a random person in the room already.

It will firstly download images, then ask you for your name. Type it in and click OK. Duplicate names are allowed, and are numbered if duplicates are found.

You'll then be connected to the lobby, which looks like this:

The Lobby

It should be pretty obvious what each part means.

If you want to challange someone to minigolf, click their name on the right, then click "Minigolf" at the top, like so:

Challanging Someone

The Minigolf button at the top gets replaced with "Take Back Challange" incase you want to cancel your challange.

You may receive some challanges from friends, or random people. You are asked if you want to accept or not, like so:

Being Challanged

Tick the "I don't want any challanges" box to automaticly refuse incomming challanges.

If you want to direct a message to someone in the chat room, click their name on the right, then type your message normally. It'll show up publicly, that your directing the message to that particular person.

If you don't want to make it public, tick the "Privately" box under the user list, and nobody else will see it.

Select "All" at the top of the user list to send the message normally again.

You can also ignore someone completely, by selecting their name on the right and ticking ignore.

Remember, your notified of EVERY event involving you in the main chat box. Keep an eye on it.

Setting up a Multiplayer Game

So, you've challanged someone, and they accept. What next? If you sent the challange, you are the game "host", if you accepted someone elses challange, your the "guest". The host will choose the game settings, but the guest must accept them in order for the game to start.

This is what setting up a game looks like:

Setting up the game - Host choosting Settings

Simply pick your settings, then press OK. It will then ask the Guest if he/she accepts these settings or not. If they say yes, the game is started. If they say no, then you are both taken back to setting up the game.

This is what the guest sees, while the host is choosing settings:

Setting up the game - Guest is Waiting

...and this is what the guest sees when the host has finished choosing settings:

Setting up the game - Guest is asked about settings

You can argue about settings in the private chat below, but I'll now talk about ingame.

Playing the Game

Obviously, the aim of the game is to hit the ball into the black hole. You just have to find the easiest way to do it, in the least number of strokes.

The host is the blue ball, the guest is the red ball. If you are playing single player, there is only the blue ball.

Blue Host's Ball.
Red Guest's Ball.
Images are at double size.

Here is an example course, alough this is the single player view. The multiplayer looks a bit different, for example, there are 2 names at the top left. The name appears in bold if it is that person's turn to take a shot.

Example Course

You may notice that both balls start on top of each other. The person taking the first shot will have their ball ontop, so it's easier to tell who has the first shot.

The host takes the first shot on all the odd course numbers (1, 3, 5, etc), and the guest takes the first shot on all the even course numbers (2, 4, 6, etc).

To aim the ball, simply point your mouse arrow where you want the ball to go, like so:

Aiming your Shot

You will see a white line pointing where the ball will go. The further away the mouse arrow is from the ball, the white line will extend. This means that you will hit the ball harder. For a weak shot, put the mouse arrow closer to the ball, to shorten the white line.

Left click to take your shot! Note: You are allowed 10 shots on one course, if you fail to pot the ball after 10 hits, your marked as 11 hits on that course, and taken to the next.

You may notice, that if the ball is near the edge, and you need to take a hard shot into the end, you can't do it, because the mouse arrow will leave the box thus the white line disapears? There is a way around this.

Simply point the line in the opposite direction, and measure your preasure as if you were hitting the ball the other way. When you've done this, right click, and the ball will be hit in the opposite direction. This is the way to allow hard shots near edges. Here is an example:

Reverse Direction Shot

That's all you need to know on how to play. The game settings will determine things like, what happens to a ball if it goes in the water, and whether the balls can hit each other.

Course Elements

There are many, many, courses, I doubt anyone has seen them all. Each course has a number of elements, as shown. All images are in double size.

Element: Grass Plain grass. Your ball simply rolls along this nicely.

Element: Hole The hole, where you want your ball to end up. There may be more than one on the same course, but it does not matter which one your ball lands in.

Element: Wall A wall, your ball will bounce at a 90 degree angle off these.

Element: Rounded Wall A rounded wall. Be careful around these, it can be hard to get your ball to bounce off at the angle you want it to.

Element: Sticky Wall Same as a normal wall, but this will try and make your ball stick.

Element: Sticky Rounded Wall Same as a normal rounded wall, but this will try and make your ball stick.

Element: Water Water, try and avoid hitting your ball in here, alough, if your settings say "If ball goes in water, return to shore" this could be an advantage to you.

Element: Hills Hills, the ball will roll the direction that the hill arrows point to.

Element: Dirt Dirt, this vastly slows down your balls speed.

Element: Flowers Flowers, can be in multiple colours, they pretty much do the same as dirt.

Element: Bricks Bricks, these are like walls, but each time you hit them, they weaken, and can eventually break. There are 4 strengths.

Element: Acid Acid, if your ball ends in here, you have to start the course again. Avoid this!

Element: Mine Mine, these are invisible to start with, but if your ball goes ontop, this will popup and knock your ball in a random direction, sometimes quite fast too. They are normally annoying, but there is a chance that it hits your ball in a good area. Each mine can only be used once, and the mud patch it leaves acts as dirt.

Element: One Way Wall One Way Wall, this allows your ball to travel through one way, but blocks it the other. Some may lead you into bad places!

Element: Teleporter Enterance Teleporter Enterance, if your ball hits this, it will be teleported to an exit.

Element: Teleporter Exit Teleporter Exit, your ball could end up in one of these after going inside an enterance.

Well, that's it from me! Now you need to go and practise. Thanks for reading this document.
