Things you SHOULD read first.
Incase you didn't know, IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, just clearing that up. If you'd like to learn more about IRC, how it works, and things you can do with it, see this page. To find out what the chat room is for, having problems with nicknames, or if the chat room is plain not working, read the relavent paragraph below.
About our chat room.
In our chat room, you can talk to other guests, members, and staff. If you are unfamiliar with IRC (Internet Relay Chat), simply type a name above and click Connect to our chat room through the Java Applet. If you are a more advanced user and you use a different IRC client such as mIRC or ChatZilla, please scroll down for details on where our IRC channels are.
Nickname issues.
Please try to use an uncommon nickname. Since the IRC network our channels are on is the largest in the world, common nicknames will be taken by other people. Not on our channel, but many others across the network. Please also note that only common characters work. Letters, numbers, and underscore. That's it. Your nickname can't start with a number, or be a single letter alone, for security reasons beyond our control. The length limit on a nickname is 20 characters. If you enter an invalid nickname, you will be fallen back onto "Invalid_Nick" providing it isn't taken. If this happens, please leave the chat room, and try a different nickname.
IRC applet not loading?
If the chat window doesn't open, you may have a popup blocker stopping it. Please disable that, or allow the domain combatgold1.co.uk to create popups. Seriously, this is the only popup you'll get from us, unless you choose to have a popup when you reveive a new private message on the forums. We do not spam any advertisments via popups. If the applet doesn't load or work properly or at all, you need Sun Microsystems Java Plugin for your browser.

Are you banned or G/K-lined?
Firstly, ha-ha! Somebody must hate you. Please see which type of ban you have below.
Channel
If you are only banned from a particular channel (message: unable to join channel, address is banned), this is your ban. Please contact the person that banned you about getting it removed. If they say no, well that's your problem. You shouldn't be silly!
G-Line
This is the worst ban. If you are G-Lined, it means your hostname/IP address has been banned from QuakeNet IRC network. You must have done something bad! They are normally tempory, but the time they last varies. Don't ask us, we don't know. Instead, contact an IRC operator for more details.
K-Line
Exacly the same as a G-Line, but only banned on a specific server. Just go on a different one! There is a perminant K-Line on non-us TLD's (eg .uk, .de, .fr), which sits on the USA server. This is because there are only 2 servers in the USA, all the others are in Europe. If you are anywhere outside of the American continent (includes both north and south), please use a European server. East Asia (eg. Japan) users may get away with using a USA server.
